Description
American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and active NJ or compact RN license.
Details
- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of an academic teaching hospital with a Level III NICU and maternal-fetal medicine services
- Unit cares for low and high-risk antepartum, L&D, LDRP, Mother/Baby, and Level I Nursery patients
- Facility averages 200-300+ births per month
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:30-07:30
- Every other weekend required based on unit needs
- Float requirement within skillset between Antepartum, L&D, L&D PACU, and Postpartum units
- Uses EPIC for charting
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required (pending state license accepted)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and FHM
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery/Antepartum experience required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, C-section circulating/scrubbing/recovery, and forceps/vacuum extraction required
- Experience with external/internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement/calibration required
- Experience administering Pitocin, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, and insulin drips required
- Experience caring for high-risk maternal conditions including pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and HELLP syndrome required
- Postpartum and newborn care experience including lactation support and newborn assessment required
- At least 1 supervisory reference required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive Labor & Delivery nursing care including antepartum, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Support high-risk pregnancy management and family-centered bonding practices including the Golden Hour following delivery
- Hospital-provided scrubs
- Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former RWJBarnabas Health employees (full-time or PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
