Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown unit requiring 2+ years of recent cardiac nursing experience and ACLS/BLS certification.

Details

• Acute care Stepdown unit specializing in Cardiac/Telemetry/Dialysis (3N Cardiac/Tele/Dialysis)
• 29-bed unit treating cardiac medical and surgical patients, including post cath lab (stent, pacemaker, ICD, watchman, mitral clip, TAVR) and post cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements) cases
• Also manages Afib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia with temporary pacemakers
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days through 2300, and 1:5-6 on nights after 2300
• Night shift schedule, 1900 to 0730, 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Fri/Sat/Sun scheduling option available
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling used as it fits unit needs
• Floating required as needed based on unit census
• No call or standby requirements outside of extra shift opportunities
• Uses Cerner EMR, with a transition to Epic underway
• RNs titrate drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
• 24/7 central telemetry monitoring unit handles strip reading for non-critical care patients
• Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
• Nurse aide support available, with ratios of 1:10 on days, 1:10-12 on PMs, and 1:15 after 2300
• 24/7 Respiratory Therapy support available for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow vapotherm; RNs responsible for incentive spirometry

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required (must be active by start date)
• Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in a busy hospital setting required
• Experience managing post procedural cath lab patients required
• Experience managing TR band compression devices required
• Experience managing chest pain patients required
• Experience with post cardiac surgical patients required
• BSN not required

Additional Information

• Trauma Level 2 acute care facility
• Provide direct nursing care to cardiac medical and surgical patients, including drip titration and post-procedural monitoring
• Unit-specific orientation includes 1 shift of HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
• No scrubs provided and no specific scrub color required
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Candidates must reside within 80 miles of the facility to qualify for the local candidate rate
• Former Marshfield permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
