Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry/PCU RN for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center requiring TN or compact RN license and NIH Stroke certification.

Details

• 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg progressive care unit with 6:1 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule, 7:00PM-7:00AM, 3 shifts per week
• Works every other weekend (4 shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Uses Meditech documentation system
• Unit equipped with IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
• Tech support available on day and night shifts; unit secretary coverage 7a-7p
• Contract staff float first, with rotation among multiple contract labor staff when applicable

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH Stroke Certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Med/Surg or related specialty
• Med/Surg skills including IV starts, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, NG tubes, and chest tubes
• Ability to prioritize care and multitask in a fast-paced environment
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
• One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Facility is an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• Provide attentive, compassionate patient and family-centered care including bedside shift report
• Make personal connections with patients and involve families in care planning
• Navy scrub top and bottom required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
