Description

American Traveler is hiring an inpatient Rehab RN for a night shift position requiring at least 1 year of experience in an acute care rehabilitation unit.

Details

• Inpatient Rehab unit (5W Rehab) within an acute care, Level 2 trauma hospital setting
• 10-bed unit with private rooms and a 1:5 nurse to patient ratio
• Adult patient population with common diagnoses including stroke (40%), trauma, ortho, and neuro conditions, with average stays of 10-14 days
• Night shift schedule, 1900 to 0730
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation required (2/3 coverage for winter holidays, every other for remaining holidays)
• Floating required to similar med surg/tele units
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned to travelers at a 1:5 ratio
• CNAs present for day and evening shifts, not available for 2300-0700 shift
• No call or standby requirements
• Uses Cerner EMR, transitioning to Epic
• Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences around 11am-12pm

Requirements

• Active WI state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Prior Rehab experience required for first-time travelers; experienced Med Surg nurses with prior travel experience may be considered without Rehab background
• Experience administering nebulizers and inhalers
• Comfortable managing IV fluids, antibiotics, and titratable drips such as heparin
• Two professional references required: one from a supervisor and one from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

• RN responsible for nebulizer and inhaler administration; RT manages CPAP/BiPAP for night shifts, with RN authorized to remove equipment
• Works alongside PT, OT, SLP, and rehab physician as part of a multidisciplinary care team
• Unit-specific orientation consists of two 12-hour shifts
• Any color scrubs permitted as long as clean and professional
• First-time travelers considered if they have Rehab experience
• Candidates previously employed by the facility in a permanent role must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
• Pairs/duos requesting the same shifts cannot be accommodated on this unit
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
