Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse - PACU for a night shift inpatient PACU/Preop position requiring a CA RN license and prior ICU or ED experience.

Details

• Inpatient PACU/Preop Day setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
• Majority of patients are low acuity
• Call and weekend rotation required, approximately every other or every third weekend
• About 3 call shifts per six-week schedule period
• Sunday night is not considered a weekend shift
• Floating required to PAT, Main PACU, and GI Lab

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• ICU or ED experience required
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
• Proficiency in Phase I and Phase II PACU recovery care
• Experience with procedural sedation, conscious sedation, and monitored anesthesia care (MAC)
• Skilled in airway management including intubation, extubation, and LMA/ET management
• Experience with dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Competency in pediatric PACU care
• Knowledge of malignant hyperthermia and hypothermia protocols
• Experience with blood product administration and IV therapy
• Ability to perform pre-op assessments, education, and discharge instructions
• Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG and operative consents

Additional Information

• RTO requests must be submitted upfront with the initial profile, no exceptions
• Facility does not offer blocked scheduling; cancellations may result in a DNR designation
• Travel pairs are accepted, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
• Floating is required for all travelers based on facility needs
• Former permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least 365 days before returning as a traveler
• Annual training modules are required and average 6 hours to complete
