Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a 13-week assignment requiring 1 year of PACU experience, community hospital background, and a PA or compact RN license.

Details

• PACU unit within a community hospital setting
• Phase I PACU, pre- and post-operative care, ambulatory/outpatient settings
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Administers narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents
• Supports conscious sedation, general, local, MAC, and nerve block anesthesia types
• Cares for surgical patients across ENT, ophthalmology, ortho, and plastics cases
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM
• Call requirement includes 1 night per week from 9:30 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend call required on Saturdays and Sundays
• Additional rotating 12-hour shifts required over a 6-week schedule, including 7a-7p and 7p-7a shifts
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• Minimum 1 year of PACU experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Experience with 1:2 patient ratios
• Knowledge of Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol, pain assessment/management, and RASS scoring
• Two supervisor references preferred
• SSN, DOB, and driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide perianesthesia nursing care including monitoring, pain management, and recovery support for surgical patients
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Candidates must be willing to float to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Required to work every other holiday
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least 2 years to apply through an agency
• Travelers who have completed a cumulative year within the WVU Medicine system must wait two years before returning as a travel RN
• Candidates can only be submitted to one WVU Medicine facility at a time
• Travel pairs may be accepted based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• First-time travelers are not considered for this role
