Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg position on a 3rd floor surgical care unit, requiring CO or compact RN licensure and general med-surg experience.

Details

• 3rd floor surgical care Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital with 28 beds
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week guaranteed
• Nurse:patient ratios of 1:4-5 during days and 1:5-6 at night
• Post-surgical patient population including drains, chest tubes, and pain management needs
• Required to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• Unit supported by tele/monitor techs in a central monitoring room
• Charge nurse and nurse aides present on unit
• RT equipment includes NC up to 6L, CPAP, and BiPap (BiPap for night use only)
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Minimum of six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Call/standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• May float to ICU, PCU/Stepdown, or MS-Tele units, and within Zone 3 if needed
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active CO or Compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• General med-surg experience required, with surgical population experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide post-surgical nursing care including pain management and drain/chest tube care
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Orientation includes 12 hours with unit-specific orientation scheduled during orientation week
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility
• Float radius policy applies, requiring candidates to secure housing allowing them to float within their assigned zone
• Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year, though PRN employment through outside firms will be considered
