Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications and at least 1 year of experience.

Details

• PCU/Stepdown unit setting within a hospital
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 or 4x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Cares for cardiac telemetry, stepdown, and progressive care patients
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Candidates must be willing to work every other holiday

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Current AHA certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• Charting system experience required
• Cerner experience preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and oxygen administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response protocols
• DL, SSN, and DOB required for consideration
• Two supervisor references preferred

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and post-surgical patients in a progressive care setting
• Monitor and manage telemetry, cardiac drips, and thrombolytic therapies
• Perform wound care, manage surgical drains, and support orthopedic patients including total joint replacement and traction care
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Local candidates not accepted
• Travel pairs may be accommodated based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least 2 years before applying through an agency
• Travelers are limited to one year of cumulative assignments within the health system, followed by a two-year break before returning
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
• Pre-start modules (approximately 1 hour) must be completed prior to entering the facility
