Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring 2+ years of experience and an active ND or Compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Level 2 trauma hospital setting on a 24-bed General Medical Unit
• Patient population includes observation cases such as chest pain, abdominal pain, hysterectomies, knee scopes, tonsillectomies, appendectomies, hernias, and infusion patients needing blood or antibiotics
• High patient turnover with frequent admissions and discharges requiring strong organizational skills
• 1:5 RN to patient ratio maintained 24/7
• Uses EPIC EMR and Acu-dose for narcotic dispensing with medication scanning
• 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights, with hours of 6A-6:30P and 6P-6:30A
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• May float to other Med-Surg areas under the same rotation as permanent staff
• Never required to work alone

Requirements

• Active ND or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience caring for pre- and post-op observation patients
• Proficiency in IV starts, dressing changes, foley catheter care, and general nursing skills
• BSN not required for this position

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for a high-turnover Med-Surg unit with pre- and post-operative and observation patients
• Orientation includes 2-3 twelve-hour shifts with a preceptor plus classroom training on the charting system
• All staff must badge in and out at the facility
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates with permanent addresses within 80 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Previous Sanford Health employment must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
