Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN (Chemo Certified) for an inpatient oncology unit requiring WA or compact RN license and chemotherapy certification.

Details

• Inpatient oncology unit at a Magnet-designated, teaching, Level 4 trauma hospital
• Patient population includes lymphoma, solid tumor, and sarcoma cases
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within hospital to all Med/Surg units (no floating to sister hospitals)
• On-call is optional, not mandatory
• May need to transport own patients to procedures or testing
• Uses Epic charting system
• Unit-based lift equipment available

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• BLS and Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• OCN and additional ONS/ONCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years oncology nursing experience required (Med/Surg RNs with outpatient oncology experience will also be considered)
• Experience with chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and precautions required
• Port access, IV starts, and CVC maintenance experience required
• PCA pump management experience required
• Telemetry monitoring experience required
• Experience managing oncologic emergencies (ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation, hemorrhage, sepsis) required
• Experience with biotherapy and immunotherapy side effect management required
• Experience with symptom management for chemotherapy patients required
• Experience administering IV push narcotics and managing transdermal patches required
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, port access, IV therapy, and central line maintenance
• Monitor and manage oncologic emergencies and treatment side effects
• Administer and manage pain medications including PCA pumps and transdermal patches
• Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
• Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any color accepted for other units
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum, with no time off accommodated during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Prior UW Medical Center staff must have 18 months of separation before returning as a traveler
