Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Progressive Care unit position requiring telemetry and IV skills with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Details

• Stepdown/Immediate Care Unit setting with patients comparable to Progressive Care or Telemetry patients in larger facilities
• Patient acuity varies across the unit
• Typical patient ratio of 1:4, flexing to 1:5 in emergencies
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours, weekdays with some weekends required
• Weekend block schedules considered (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
• Uses Cerner EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; pending license accepted for consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, including 1 year of MS/Tele experience and 2 years of Stepdown experience
• Must be able to read telemetry strips
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Skills required include IV starts and telemetry monitoring
• Minimum 2 Manager and/or Charge Nurse references from within the past 2 years required

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, respiratory support, and management of patients with varying acuity levels
• Scrubs not provided; burgundy and/or white scrubs required
• Orientation held every other Monday
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those between 75-100 miles may be considered case-by-case at the same rate
• Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of permanent employment before returning as a traveler
• Current employees of the Vandalia Health System (including CAMC Health Systems, Mon Health Systems, Davis Medical Center, Broaddus Hospital, Webster Memorial Hospital, Grafton City Hospital, Highland-Clarksburg Hospital, and Minnie Hamilton Health System) are not eligible for travel contracts within the system
• Holiday RTO requests limited to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• First-time travelers are not required to apply, but travel experience is not mandatory
