Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit position requiring active CA RN licensure and prior telemetry nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the MS/Tele Detox unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics
• 21-bed unit with a daily census of approximately 18
• 1:5 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45pm-7:15am)
• 13-week assignment
• Float requirement to telemetry and Santa Paula Hospital as needed
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Uses Pyxis, Cerner, and SBAR communication systems

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required (EMSA not accepted)
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• TNCC or TCAR required before start date
• Preferred certifications: CPI, MAB
• Minimum 2 years of charge RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response Teams
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions such as CVA, TBI, and spinal cord injury
• Experience managing renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis patients
• Recent Nursys report required
• One supervisory reference required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a detox and medical-surgical telemetry environment
• May float to Santa Paula Hospital, located approximately 15 minutes away, with advance notice and paid orientation
• Complete required training modules (approximately 4 hours) and a 1-hour CA Harassment course prior to or during orientation
• All requested time off must be submitted prior to assignment start
• Interview availability required in PST
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position due to required prior travel experience
