Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN with a VA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of med/surg experience for a 32-bed innovation-focused unit.

Details

• 32-bed Medical/Surgical unit known as the Medical Innovation Unit, focused on adopting new technology and nursing practice models
• Utilizes Hercules beds and other innovative equipment
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holiday rotation required, including one summer and one winter holiday
• Floating required to cover staffing needs as needed
• Meditech charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with respiratory care including chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols
• Experience with renal failure and pre/post hemodialysis management preferred
• Must pass a drug screen (DS) during compliance and on first day onsite
• Must comply with facility's zero-tolerance THC policy (medical marijuana cards not accepted)
• Must pass fit testing; facial hair must be shaved unless an approved medical exemption is obtained prior to starting

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a med/surg unit emphasizing early adoption of new technologies and nursing practices
• Staff are grouped for self-scheduling, with groups rotating weekly
• First day includes drug screening at Employee Health before leaving; first shift begins the following day
• General RN orientation occurs every other Monday
• RTO policy: if one holiday falls in the assignment, expect to work it; if two, expect to work one; if three, expect to work two
• Local candidates (within 50 miles) are not accepted
• Candidates who previously worked a permanent position at the facility within the past 24 months are not eligible
