Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist for a night shift travel assignment requiring Level III NICU experience and RRT certification.

Details

• 13-week travel assignment on night shift, 6PM-6AM 12-hour shifts
• Works in a Level III NICU as well as an adult ICU setting with cardiac surgery patients
• Attends all c-sections and full-standing ER coverage at both facilities
• Approximate patient ratio of 5:1 (ventilators to therapist)
• Uses EPIC EMR system
• Potential to be scheduled on weekends
• No on-call requirement
• Floats between two facility locations

Requirements

• RT or RCP license in state of employment required if applicable
• BLS certification required via AHA
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC required
• ACLS certification required via AHA
• PALS certification required via AHA
• 1-3 years of experience preferred
• Must be able to work independently in the NICU
• Knowledge of ventilators, oscillators, nitric oxide therapy, and arterial line draws required
• Intubation skills are a plus
• Knowledge of cardiac surgery patient care required

Additional Information

• Provides pulmonary care for critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision
• Performs patient assessments and implements respiratory care plans
• Responds to emergency codes including Code Blue and Code White
• Performs airway management, suctioning, aerosolized drug delivery, and ventilator setup/management
• Manages airway support devices including BiPAP and CPAP
• Performs blood gas collection and analysis, chest film analysis, and EKG analysis
• May function as Shift Leader or Team Leader
• Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy assist, and transport duties
• Maintains accurate documentation and participates in equipment cleaning and stocking
• Participates in CAP and Joint Commission surveys
• Returning employees who previously worked at a facility within this health system must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a new assignment
