Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring vascular case experience and 2+ years of OR specialty experience.

Details

• Surgery Room/Main OR setting in a Level III Trauma Center with Level III NICU and Primary Stroke Center designation
• 21 OR beds within the surgical services department
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Performs General, Breast/Plastics, Vascular, Laparoscopic, General Oncology, GU, GYN, and Abdominal/Robotic (da Vinci XI) cases
• Uses EPIC charting system along with Alaris and Pyxis equipment
• Day shift with variable start times between 0530-0700
• Weekend rotation covered through on-call rather than scheduled shifts
• On-call required with a 30-minute response time, following an 8-week call schedule including overnight slots (2230-0700) and 1-2 weekend call shifts (12-hour Saturday/Sunday shifts)
• Floating required within surgical services and Urology center only, no floating to other hospitals

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required
• Must be able to perform vascular surgery cases
• Core specialty experience must be within the last year
• EPIC experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate's middle name/initial, DOB, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Support on the unit includes Charge Nurses, Leads, Supervisors, and a Manager
• Orientation lasts 1-1.5 weeks depending on team and shift assignment
• Holidays are primarily covered through on-call coverage
• Surgical scrubs are provided by the hospital; scrub caps must be covered with a surgical bouffant
• Free parking available, with separate lots for day and evening shifts
• Starbucks and cafeteria available on campus
• No call rooms available on-site
• First-time travelers are not recommended for this position and would require additional evaluation and approval from the hiring supervisor
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of Advocate Health or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
