Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring at least one year of experience and an active PA or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Candidates must be willing to work every other holiday

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions, and PPE
• Experience managing cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmias, and code team response
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with GI, GU/renal, orthopedic, and endocrine patient care
• Valid driver's license, SSN, and DOB required for consideration
• Two supervisor references preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care within a Medical Surgical unit, managing a variety of post-surgical and chronic conditions
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Travel pairs may be accepted depending on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Former permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible
• Travelers who complete a cumulative year of assignments within the WVU Medicine system must wait two years before returning
• Fingerprinting, drug screening, and required labs must be completed within 24–48 hours of signing
• Compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
• Approximately 1 hour of required pre-start modules must be completed before entering the facility
