Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week assignment, requiring 1 year of Med/Surg experience and an active PA or compact RN license.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit caring for orthopedic, neurosurgery, general surgery, and urology patients
• 1:6 patient ratios
• 3x12-hour day or night shifts (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the hospital may be required as needed, including to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (PA or Compact) required at time of submission
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical experience required
• Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and oxygen tanks required
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE preferred
• Experience with total joint replacement, peripheral nerve block catheters, and pre/post neurosurgery care preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and rapid response/code team protocols preferred
• SSN, DOB, driver's license, and RTO required for consideration
• Two supervisor references preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care across a diverse Med/Surg population including orthopedic, neuro, general surgery, and urology cases
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must be willing to work every other holiday
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Former permanent employees are not eligible unless they have been separated for at least 2 years
• Travelers who complete a cumulative year of assignments within the health system must take a two-year break before returning
• Traveler can only be placed at one facility within the health system at a time
• Fingerprinting, drug screen, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
• Compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to start
• Approximately 1 hour of pre-start orientation modules required before entering the facility
