Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and an IN or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit setting
• Patient ratio of 1:5-7
• Day shift, 4x12 hours (7:00-19:30), with 3x12 or 4x12 scheduling options
• Every other weekend required
• Required to float to like units within scope of practice, including within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• Cerner charting system required

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or Compact) required in hand prior to start
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry remote monitoring
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience managing PCA medications and post-MI cardiovascular patients
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure patients preferred
• Experience with chest tubes, feeding tube care, and surgical drains preferred
• Candidate's nursing school must be ACEN or CCNE accredited at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response as needed
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of the health system must be away for 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within the health system must take a designated consecutive break to reset eligibility before reapplying
