Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level II Trauma Center requiring at least 2 years of ED experience and CA RN licensure.
Details
- Level II Trauma Center ED treating AMIs, strokes, MVAs, gunshot wounds, sepsis, and CHF
- Pediatric volume of approximately 30% within a combined adult/pediatric ED
- Serves a lower income Hispanic patient population
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Evening shift, 3x12 hours (15:00-03:00)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic for charting
- Free parking available
- Scrubs may be any color; L/D and OR scrubs provided
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and LA City Fire Card
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Experience with antibiotics, vasopressors, opioids, sedation, anti-hypertensives, anti-seizure, and cardiac medications
- Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
- Experience with IV therapy including starting/maintaining IVs, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience managing ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs
- Experience with triage and isolation precautions/PPE
- Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
Additional Information
- Magnet-designated acute care facility with 377 staffed beds
- Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the region
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of consideration; post-offer RTO changes may not be accommodated
- Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must not live within 50 miles of the facility
- Local candidates accepted at a reduced bill rate within a 50-mile radius
