Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring general surgery, GYN, and urology experience and weekly call coverage.

Details

Acute care hospital setting in a general surgery OR with 14 suites dedicated to general surgery and 28 total suites
Average of 20-40 general surgery cases performed daily
Common procedures include lap chole, lap colon, lap appy, cysto, DaVinci robotic cases, hysterectomy, vascular, ENT, and urology cases
Uses EPIC OP Time EMR system
10-hour day shifts scheduled either 7:00-17:30 or 12:30-23:00 to total 36 or 40 hours per week based on contract
No self-scheduling; block scheduling determined by facility need
Call required approximately once per week with call hours varying (1530-2300, 1730-2300, 1930-2300, or 2300-0700)
Call response time is 30 minutes
Sleep policy provides 8 hours off if working more than 4 hours past 2300 while on call
Weekend requirements rotate every other or every third weekend with a call shift assigned during weekend hours worked
Floating possible to other surgery teams or Sterile Processing Department (SPD) if qualified
Charge nurse available to assist with cases
Works alongside surgical technologists in the OR

Requirements

Active IL RN license required
BLS certification (AHA) required
Minimum 2 years of general surgery, GYN, and urology experience required
ENT experience also required
EPIC EMR experience required
Experience in similarly sized facilities and ORs within the last 2 years preferred
Must pass a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Information

Hospital-provided scrubs with standard dress code
Unit-specific orientation up to one week, plus hospital-wide orientation
12 hours of non-billable orientation required
Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours off per 13-week assignment without penalty
Local candidates accepted; reduced local rate applies for those within 50 miles of the facility
No radius rule restricting eligibility
COVID vaccination not required for this facility
