Description

American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN with strong neuro critical care experience and a VA or compact RN license for a night shift assignment in the Coastal Virginia region.

Details

• Work in the ICU of a hospital environment
• Typical patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours), every other weekend and holidays required
• Floating required to Stepdown Unit, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
• 48-hour contract options available

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration, no exceptions
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS (American Heart Association only), and NIHSS
• Three years of critical care experience preferred, though strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Proficiency in Epic required, no exceptions
• Strong neuro critical care experience required
• Skilled in ventilator management, IV drip titration, telemetry monitoring, conscious sedation, and dysrhythmia recognition and management
• Experience with emergency response and critical care management required
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Must pass EKG rhythm interpretation test with 80% or higher score prior to starting assignment, no remediation available

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to ICU patients including those with neuro, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and multisystem conditions
• Skills may include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, CVVHD/CRRT, EVD, ICP monitoring, and management of patients post-craniotomy or neurosurgery
• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Candidates with any history of license or background hits will not be considered
• Facility cannot accommodate PAPR; any history of fit test issues will eliminate a candidate from consideration
• 3 hours of pre-start modules required, billable
• Holiday coverage required for holidays falling within the contract period
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
