Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor and Delivery RN for a teaching hospital's Baby-Friendly birthing center, requiring an active NY RN license and specialty certifications.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit (Twig Birthing Center) of an acute care teaching hospital
• Private birthing suites with on-unit ORs and advanced monitoring capabilities
• Cares for all pregnant patients at any gestational age accepted by the provider team
• Triage evaluates pregnant patients at any gestational age and postpartum patients within 6 weeks of delivery
• Uses GE Fetal & Telemetry Monitors, Monica wireless fetal monitoring, Neopuff, and Draeger newborn warmers
• Epic charting required; also uses non-Epic CPN/GE Centricity systems
• Day shift (7a-7p) or night shift (7p-7a), 3x12 hour shifts, 13-week contract
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required within skillset
• Hospital-provided scrubs

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN or LPN license required (NY is not Compact); pending licenses not accepted
• Required certifications: OB-ACLS or ACLS, BLS, EFM, and NRP
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Skilled in assisting vaginal deliveries, circulating for C-sections, and C-section recovery
• Experience with Magnesium Sulfate therapy, Pitocin, and Terbutaline administration
• Proficient in APGAR scoring, infant delivery (baby catching), ID/security banding, and radiant warmer/thermoregulation care
• Skilled in Foley catheter insertion/management and fundus/lochia/perineum care
• Experience managing postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Proficient with Non-Stress Tests (NST), External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM), and IUPC placement/calibration

• Baby-Friendly unit supports family-centered births, lactation support, hydrotherapy, and postpartum services
• Unit is rated High Performing for maternity outcomes
• Offers both OB and midwifery care models
• Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without charge; being placed on-call in lieu of cancellation counts as a called-off shift
• All time off, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RNs within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted; local LPNs are accepted
