Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring an active NY RN license and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• Adult Emergency Department setting within a Level I trauma, Magnet-recognized, academic teaching hospital
• Dedicated pediatric ED, crisis intervention unit, and trauma suite adjacent to the ambulance entrance
• Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center and STEMI certified facility
• Patient ratio of 1:5 for adult and geriatric populations across all emergency diagnoses
• 13-week contract with 3x12-hour shifts, alternating days (11a-11p) and nights (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required, if needed
• Facility may cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract without charge
• Required to float within skillset
• Uses EPIC for charting
• Special equipment includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Scrubs must be any combination of navy blue and white

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TNCC preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with IV vasopressors and procedural sedation administration/monitoring
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
• Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Cardiac monitoring experience including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with emergency care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation, and ortho trauma
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and triage
• Arterial line management and hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care to adult and pediatric patients across all emergency diagnoses
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility for RN consideration
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must have no more than 10 days of requested RTO
• Previous employees must have a 6-month system-wide break in service before reapplying
