Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a CVICU position requiring NY RN licensure and experience managing complex cardiac devices such as ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, and Impella.

Details

• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7p-7a), 13-week assignment
• Works in a 16-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Patient ratio of 1:2, with Impella patients occasionally 1:1 based on acuity
• Cares for complex cardiac surgery and critically ill patients including sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, pre-VAD workups, multi-organ failure, and post cardiac arrest/targeted temperature management
• Manages patients on ECMO, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, Impella, and Swan-Ganz monitoring
• EPIC charting experience required
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Float within skillset required as needed

Requirements

• Active NY Single State RN license required in hand (NY is not a compact state)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Experience with arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with ventilator management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and ABG interpretation
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administering continuous IV sedation/paralytics
• Experience with CABG, Impella, IABP, and LVAD/RVAD care
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience obtaining 12-lead EKGs and managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure

• Provide expert critical care to cardiac surgery and cardiac device patients in a collaborative, multidisciplinary CVICU
• Unit supports 24/7 provider coverage and strong family communication throughout post-operative recovery
• Patients transition to dedicated step-down units for cardiac rehabilitation
• Facility is a Magnet-recognized, 528-bed academic teaching hospital certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
• Scrub colors limited to navy blue and white combinations
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
