Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring an active NY RN license and advanced cardiac device management skills.

Details

• Work in a 16-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) within an acute care teaching hospital
• Patient population includes cardiac surgery, heart transplant, ARDS, sepsis, renal failure, heart failure, multi-organ failure, post cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure/shock cases
• Patient ratio of 1:2, with Impella patients at 1:2 and occasionally 1:1 based on acuity
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday coverage required, if needed
• Floating required within skillset
• EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required in hand (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Proficiency in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experience with blood product administration and IV therapy
• Ventilator management, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP support, and ABG interpretation skills
• Experience with continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and emergency medications
• Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Experience with CABG, Impella, IABP, and LVAD/RVAD required
• Swan-Ganz/pulmonary artery line monitoring experience required
• CVVHD/CRRT experience required
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills required
• 12-lead EKG acquisition skills required
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure patients required
• Prior travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing for complex cardiac surgery and multi-organ failure patients, including ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, and IABP device management
• Work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team with 24/7 provider coverage
• Support post-operative rehabilitation and family communication efforts
• Patients transition to dedicated step-down units for cardiac rehabilitation
• Scrub color requirement: any combination of navy blue and white
• Up to 3 shift call-offs may occur during the 13-week contract without charge
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Facility is Magnet-recognized and an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
