Description

American Traveler is seeking a Labor & Delivery RN for a hospital unit managing both high-risk and low-risk deliveries, requiring an active MN RN license and at least 1-2 years of specialty experience.

Details

• Labor and Delivery unit providing care for high-risk and low-risk deliveries
• Patient population includes preeclampsia, morbid obesity, and congenital complications
• Unit runs its own ORs performing D&C, cerclages, and PPTL procedures
• Antepartum population also served, with average daily census of 7 L&D plus 4 antepartum patients
• 15 rooms/beds with about 6 visits per day
• Uses OBIX fetal monitoring equipment
• Epic/Excellian EMR used
• Day shift (4x8, 7:00-15:30) and Evening shift (4x8, 15:00-23:30) available
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital

Requirements

• Active MN RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current BLS and NRP certification required
• AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required, or 1 year if gained at a high-risk or high-delivery-volume hospital
• Scrub skills required; Circulate and Triage skills preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood/blood products
• Experience assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries
• Experience with magnesium sulfate, pitocin, and antihypertensive medication administration
• Experience with fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring
• 1 supervisor reference required for consideration
• Documentation required: date of birth, SSN, certification copies, and Nursys verification

Additional Information

• Provide labor, delivery, antepartum, and postpartum nursing care across a range of high-risk and low-risk cases
• Assist with surgical procedures including cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and newborn assessments
• Manage pain control methods including epidural anesthesia and PCA pumps
• Care for patients with conditions such as HELLP syndrome, placenta previa, and preterm labor
• Must be gone at least 3 months since last perm shift worked to be eligible as a returning traveler
• Must reside at least 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Fingerprinting required per Minnesota state law, which may require travel to a LiveScan location if not available locally
• Pre-start training modules required, averaging 8 hours
