Description
We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local long-term care provider in Detroit, MI where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current Michigan state license in good standing with the State License Board.
- Registry as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- One year experience as an RRT. Facility prefers experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation settings.
- BLS certification required. ACLS is preferred.
- Proficiency with mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation, oxygen delivery systems, aerosol and nebulizer devices, and airway management including tracheostomy care and suctioning.
- Experience performing arterial puncture, oximetry, capnography, 12-lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function testing (NIF, VC, etc.).
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ventilatory equipment and perform ventilator set-up and self-tests.
- Ability to assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube management, and PleurX drainage according to facility policy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for documentation and physician communication.
