Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (PEDS ER RN) - Travel Contract

Location: Tulsa, OK
Job Type: Travel Contract
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks
Start Date: ASAP

Shift: Weekend Days
Schedule: Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Hours: 7:00 AM-7:00 PM (3x12s)
Requirements: Weekend shifts and holiday requirements apply

Position Requirements

Must Have:

  • Travel nursing experience required.

  • Active Oklahoma RN License or valid Multi-State Compact RN License.

  • Epic EMR experience required.

  • BLS certification required.

  • PALS certification required.

Job Summary

The Pediatric Emergency Room Registered Nurse (PEDS ER RN) assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies. The RN provides safe, effective, and patient-centered care while monitoring and evaluating pediatric patient conditions in the emergency department setting.

Job Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process to provide care for assigned pediatric emergency patients.

  • Complete patient assessments and develop individualized care plans according to nursing guidelines.

  • Provide nursing care while considering cultural, psychosocial, and age-specific factors.

  • Perform nursing skills appropriate to the pediatric emergency patient population.

  • Anticipate patient and department needs.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of biopsychosocial care principles.

  • Delegate tasks appropriately and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.

  • Apply professional judgment when responding to changing patient conditions.

  • Document nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.

  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records using appropriate terminology.

  • Address patient care concerns and evaluate progress toward expected outcomes.

  • Provide patient and family education, including discharge instructions.

  • Make appropriate referrals when needed.

  • Utilize available resources to support patient education.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare disciplines.

  • Support department and hospital goals through quality improvement and educational activities.

  • Attend mandatory in-services and maintain unit education requirements.

  • Complete required variance reports accurately.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 0-6 months of related experience required.

  • Epic EMR experience required.

  • Knowledge of disease management processes, clinical pathways, and biopsychosocial care models.

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively.

  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing clinical and numerical data.

  • Ability to make independent decisions within established nursing guidelines.

Education Requirements
  • Completion of an approved professional nursing curriculum from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a nursing diploma or degree recognized by the applicable State Board of Nursing.

Certification & Licensure Requirements
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) License:

    • Oklahoma RN License OR

    • Valid Multi-State Compact RN License

  • Current BLS Certification.

  • Current PALS Certification.

Protouch Staffing Job ID #PROTOUCHEXT-89642. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
