Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available, both day (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Rotating shift will not occur more than weekly
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 32-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5, occasional 1:5-6 on nights, and PCU level care overflow at 1:3
• Care for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac diagnoses including cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, Covid BiPAP, general surgical with heart history, pneumonia, sepsis, and acute on chronic conditions
• Required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine
• Required to read and interpret telemetry strips independently
• Work with respiratory therapy equipment including BiPAP, trachs, and Airvo
• Floating required to all areas as helping hands, PCU for full patient load, MS for full patient assignment, and some ER holds/boarding
• Charge nurse present on both shifts, occasionally taking a light patient load of 2-3 patients
• Nurse aides and patient care techs available with a goal ratio of 1:10
• Telemetry portable monitors, room monitors, and a tech at the nurses station available
• 2 orientation shifts of 12 hours each (Friday and Saturday of first week)
• Charting system: Epic (preferred)
• Any color scrubs permitted
• PCU experience required; ability to read and interpret strips required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• BSN not required
• Trauma Level 2, Acute Care Setting

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive medical and telemetry services. The unit specializes in cardiac and telemetry care, providing PCU-level overflow support and managing a wide range of complex cardiac and medical conditions. The facility utilizes Epic as its electronic health records system and maintains robust staffing support including charge nurses, patient care techs, and telemetry monitoring staff on every shift.
