Opportunity:

RN - Neuro ICU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 4 total weekend shifts required per 4 weeks
• Holidays based on unit coverage and worked into core staff rotation
• Patient ratio of 1:2 in Neuro ICU; if floated to Tele/MS floors, ratio is 1:4
• May be placed on standby for a scheduled shift
• Float responsibilities include ICU, MS/Tele floors, and possibly additional campus locations
• 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience in a large facility (450+ beds) required; candidates with 18 months of Neuro ICU experience will be considered
• Strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience required
• 3-6 months of travel experience required
• Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting assignment (2 attempts allowed)
• Must pass a pass/fail exam on Day 1 of orientation (study guide provided)
• Required to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (pass/fail)
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• Phillips monitors used for telemetry
• Ventilator experience required
• RT and Pharmacy support available 24/7
• Scrub color: Steel Grey for Neuro floors
• Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for fit test
• Must have own vehicle
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment, or up to 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

The 32-bed Neuro ICU unit treats patients requiring critical care with neurological diagnoses, including craniotomies, brain tumor removals and ablations, brain biopsies, complicated spine surgeries, and scoliosis repair. The facility operates as a Level 1 Trauma Center with charge nurses, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 pharmacy support.
