Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both days (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM) and nights (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
• Weekends as scheduled - every other weekend required (3 weekends out of a 6-week schedule)
• Day shift weekends: Saturday and Sunday; Night shift weekends: Friday and Saturday
• Work into the holiday rotation schedule
• Schedules are made out 6 weeks at a time with up to 6 requests off per 6-week schedule
• Patient ratios of 1:6-7 (mostly 1:7 for both day and night shifts)
• Unit consists of 52 beds, all private rooms
• Charting system: Allscripts (Sunrise EMR)
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS; ACLS is a plus
• Navy blue scrub top and bottom required; navy scrub jackets permitted, no hoodies
• Common patient diagnoses include orthopedic post-ops, basic neuro post-ops (laminectomies, discectomies, spinal fusions), general post-ops (gallbladders, mastectomies, sleeve gastrectomies), infections, COPD, chest pain, pneumonia, and cellulitis
• Hemodialysis patients are on this unit; experience with peritoneal dialysis is highly preferred
• Drips include Heparin, rare Lasix (non-continuous), PCAs with MSO4, and occasional Ativan; no cardiac drips or insulin drips
• Respiratory support includes intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• IV Team starts all IVs; RNs are responsible for assessing IV sites only
• Remote telemetry available as needed, monitored on a separate unit; RNs not required to read strips but may if experienced
• Hospitalist in-house 24/7; intensivist in ICU 24/7; residents in-house 24/7
• IV team, PICC team, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy (Pyxis) all available in-house 24/7
• May float to other MedSurg, MedSurg/Oncology units, or IMC (assigned MedSurg overflow only, no drips)
• General hospital orientation followed by 2 full shifts on the unit
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• BSN not required; acute care setting
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver's license; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
