Opportunity:

RN - IMU (Intermediate Care Unit)

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts running from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; must be on the unit and ready to go by 6:45 AM/PM
• Weekends as scheduled; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are all considered weekend shifts
• Day shift requires working 4 weekend day shifts per 4-week schedule; anyone working straight days must also work a minimum of 3 night shifts per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling is allowed as long as the needs of the unit are met; staff are allowed 4 requested days off per month
• Goal patient ratio is 1:4, though ratios are typically 1:5 and occasionally may be 1:6
• All staff are required to float as needed into Telemetry or Med/Surg units with ratios up to 1:6, and possibly 1:7 in Med/Surg (not common)
• Charge nurses take a full patient assignment on both day and night shifts
• RNs must be able to read and interpret their own telemetry strips independently; Tele Techs are available but RNs are responsible for their own strips
• RNs must be able to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitro, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• All respiratory equipment including AirVo high flow and Respironics BiPAP is managed by Respiratory Therapy
• IV team is in-house 24/7 and handles all IV starts; PICC/Midline team also available
• Charting system: EPIC; Medication dispensing via Pyxis; Telemetry monitors: Nihon Kohden
• Common diagnoses include chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post cath procedures (manage radial bands and remove but do not pull sheaths), groin checks, and patients on Tikosyn therapy
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue top and bottom with navy scrub jacket; no hoodies
• BSN not required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Strict attendance policy in place; 2 occurrences including tardies or call-offs will result in termination; any absence must be reported more than 2 hours prior to shift
• A copy of candidate's unexpired driver's license must be submitted; 50-mile radius rule applies
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Facility:

This acute care facility features a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit with a mix of private and semi-private rooms, designed to manage patients requiring intermediate-level acuity. The facility maintains robust 24/7 support services including hospitalist and intensivist coverage, in-house respiratory therapy, pharmacy with Pyxis dispensing, and a dedicated IV and PICC/Midline team. The unit is equipped with Nihon Kohden telemetry monitoring and utilizes EPIC as its charting system, ensuring comprehensive and modern care delivery.
