Opportunity:
RN - Neurology/Neurosurgery
Job Details:
• Schedule options: 3x12s or 3x8s and 1x12 for a total of 36 hours per week
• Shift times vary based on schedule selected
• Patient ratios: 1:4 on weekdays, nights, and weekends
• 5 weekend shifts required in a 4-week schedule
• No on-call requirements
• Float to designated units as needed during low census
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• First-time travelers not accepted
• Travel experience required
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
• Provide care to neurology and neurosurgery patients with diagnoses including brain and spinal cord tumors, epilepsy, stroke, cerebral aneurysm, neuropathy, Myasthenia Gravis, head and spinal cord trauma, and neuro oncology
• Work within a 48-bed unit including 10 stroke beds and 10 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit beds
• Required skills include: Accessing/Managing Ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, Blood Product Administration, CVA care, Feeding tube care and management, Heparin and Insulin administration, Interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, Monitoring Chemotherapy, Pre/Post neurosurgery care, Spinal cord injury care, Telemetry remote monitoring, Tracheostomy care/management, Traumatic Brain Injury care, and Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
• Michigan nursing license required in-hand at time of submission (compact license not accepted)
• 2 supervisory references required; charge nurse references not accepted
• No requested time off during the first week of contract

This facility is a major academic medical center offering comprehensive neurology and neurosurgery services within a dedicated 48-bed inpatient unit. The unit supports a wide range of complex neurological conditions and provides access to a robust interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and more. The facility maintains high standards for staffing and patient care, utilizing Epic as its primary charting system.
