Opportunity:

RN - ER/ED Float

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend requirement and every other holiday requirement
• Float throughout Zone 1 which covers a 60-mile radius from Colorado Springs, CO city center including facilities in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Canon City
• Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance and may follow one of two formats: scheduled at a single facility for the week with possible floating within that facility, or Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling where facility is assigned 1-2 hours before shift start
• No home base facility - must be prepared to work at any facility within the assigned zone
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Treat 40-168 patients per day depending on location
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Administer standard ER medications and common drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently as no monitor technicians are available
• Will be trained to perform Point of Care lab testing
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7 on site
• Technicians available to support unit secretary work, assist nurses on the floor, and assist in triage
• 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation required
• Must be in state for the week of orientation even if first day modules are remote
• Driver's license must be submitted due to 60-mile floating zone requirement
• Housing must be obtained to make floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Charting system: EPIC
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC

Facility:

This float zone encompasses multiple acute care facilities across a 60-mile radius, including trauma level 3 and level 4 facilities, the majority of which are STEMI and stroke receiving centers. The facilities feature emergency departments treating a wide range of patients and conditions, with respiratory therapy available around the clock. The organization utilizes EPIC as its charting system and maintains dedicated support staff including technicians to assist nursing teams across all locations.
