Opportunity:
RN - High Acuity Float Pool
Job Details:
• Day shift position with 3 weekend shifts required per schedule
• Self-scheduling available
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Holiday shifts required
• Must have EPIC charting system experience
• Must have prior floating experience (float pool shifts, other facilities, and/or floating to other floors/units)
• Minimum 2 years ICU experience required; high acuity experience preferred
• Float pool covers Critical Care Unit, Observation, Med Surg, General Surgery, Ortho Surgery, Short Stay Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Telemetry, and Progressive Care
• Nurse-to-patient ratios follow standard AACN CCU staffing: 1-2 patients depending on acuity, up to 1-3 for lower acuity or patients with transfer orders
• Required to titrate drips including Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine, Propofol, Esmolol, Hydromorphone, Midazolam, and CIS
• Work with RT equipment including ventilators, high flow, BiPAP, and CPAP
• Monitor patients using Phillips monitors; RNs required to read strips with at least one monitor tech available
• Common patient diagnoses include medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiac conditions
• Nurse aides available on unit, typically 1-2 depending on daily census
• Charge nurses and residents are assignment-free; assignments created by charge RN at 0645 for day shift
• Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
• Washington state or Compact nursing license required
• BSN not required

This acute care facility operates a comprehensive high acuity float pool covering a wide range of specialty units, including critical care, surgical services, oncology, telemetry, and progressive care. The facility utilizes EPIC as its charting system and Phillips monitoring systems, and maintains structured orientation processes including General Hospital Orientation and unit-specific training. The organization upholds standard AACN staffing guidelines and fosters a collaborative care environment supported by charge nurses, monitor technicians, and nurse aides.
