Opportunity:
RN - ICU
Job Details:
• Day shift position with every other weekend or up to 3 weekends per month if unit is busy
• 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule; day shift weekends are Saturday through Sunday
• 1 holiday off during assignment
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing shifts as needed for unit needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1
• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required with no exceptions
• Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular (CV)
• Level 1 Trauma Center experience or neuro experience preferred
• UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance; maximum of 2 attempts allowed
• Pass/fail Simulation Lab on Day 1 of orientation
• 1-2 days of unit/department specific orientation
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• RNs required to interpret their own cardiac monitor strips using GE monitors; no monitor techs on unit
• RNs required to titrate drips including propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetolol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, and insulin
• Respiratory therapy equipment includes Draeger, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s BiPap, and Airvo
• Respiratory therapy and intensivist/hospitalist available in ICU 24/7
• Charge nurses on unit do not take patients; no nurse aides on unit except for sitters and Health Unit Secretary roles
• Float to telemetry with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed; expectation to float between all 3 ICUs
• Sister units include a 36-bed medical/cardiac ICU and a 12-bed overflow ICU
• Surgical ICU covers trauma, neuro, and surgery cases including Level 1 trauma, falls, GSW, blunt trauma, MVAs, CVA, post-TPA, sepsis, and ARDS
• Medical/Cardiac ICU covers sepsis, DKA, ARDS, vascular surgeries, CABG, valves, post-caths, TAVR, IABP, Impella, ECMO, and esophagectomies
• May be low censused up to 3 times per 13-week contract depending on unit needs
• Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments
• Charting system: Cerner
• BSN not required
• Navy scrubs required

This is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering acute care services across multiple specialized ICU units, including a Surgical ICU focused on trauma and neurosurgery, a Medical/Cardiac ICU, and a 12-bed overflow unit. The facility provides 24/7 intensivist and respiratory therapy coverage and is equipped with advanced respiratory and cardiac monitoring technology.
