Opportunity:
RN - ER/ED Float
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts from 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement or equivalent number of weekend shifts (6-9) within a 6-week scheduling period
• Every other holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance
• Float throughout Zone 1 (60-mile radius based around Colorado Springs, CO) which includes multiple facilities
• Facility may be assigned 1-2 hours before shift start on Just-In-Time (JIT) scheduling days
• Must not miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract
• 2-3 days of unit/department-specific orientation required - must be in state for week of orientation
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
• Treat 40-168 patients per day depending on location
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
• Administer standard ER medications and common drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently
• Will be trained and perform Point of Care lab testing
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Techs available to support unit secretary work, assist nurses on the floor, and assist in triage
• Charting system: EPIC
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC
Facility:
This float zone assignment covers multiple acute care emergency departments within a 60-mile radius, including trauma level 3 and level 4 facilities, with the majority being STEMI and stroke receiving centers. The facilities offer comprehensive emergency services with respiratory therapy available around the clock and support staff including techs assisting nurses and triage teams. Each location provides a dynamic emergency care environment treating a wide variety of patient diagnoses and acuity levels.
