Opportunity:

MST/ PCU(Med Surg Tele/PCU)

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts: 0700-1900 or 1930-0730
• Every other weekend requirement - Friday and Saturday for night shift, Saturday and Sunday for day shift
• Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Care for 30-bed unit (three 10-bed units)
• Must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract (80% passing score required)
• Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Minimum 1 year medical-surgical experience required, telemetry experience preferred
• Must be willing to care for both MST/PCU patients
• May be required to precept nursing students
• Float requirements to Multi Care Unit, Pediatric unit for adult MST care, and West Campus MedSurg Tele
• Care for stable CPAP or BiPAP patients
• Work with nursing assistants who take 10-15 patients; when no NA available, RN takes 3 patients with primary care responsibilities
• Handle common diagnoses including surgical patients (hip/knee replacement, bowel resection, hysterectomy), medical patients (MRSA, C-diff infections, COPD, pneumonia), and telemetry patients (chest pain)
• Use Cerner charting system
• Any scrub color allowed except camouflage
• Standby rotation for low census situations
• First to float policy applies
