Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg/Infectious Disease

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with a 30-minute lunch break
• Every-other-weekend requirement; weekend shifts for nights are Friday/Saturday/Sunday and days are Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday coverage may be required depending on unit needs
• Travelers will be scheduled where needed with block scheduling available based on unit needs
• Travel experience required
• EPIC experience required with charting completed in EPIC system
• Unit is an 18-bed MedSurg/Infectious Disease unit with all private rooms
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6, with 1:4 ratio for COVID patients
• Unit is typically staffed with 3-4 RNs per shift alongside 2 CNAs per shift
• Charge nurse available 24/7; night charge nurses carry a full patient assignment
• Common diagnoses include Infectious Disease, Isolation, COVID, MRSA, C-Diff, and similar conditions
• Strong knowledge of MedSurg, Infectious Disease, and Isolation precautions required
• Administer Heparin and other typical MedSurg IV medications and antibiotics; no cardiac drips required
• Patients may be on CPAP, BiPAP, or High Flow oxygen managed by Respiratory Therapy; no ventilator management required
• Remote telemetry monitored from the 3rd floor; RNs are not required to read or interpret strips
• Travelers are first to float and may be required to float to any MedSurg units
• Dress code requires Royal Blue scrubs; scrub jackets must be Royal Blue and must be an actual scrub jacket (no hoodies or sweat jackets)
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Must provide an unexpired copy of candidate's driver's license upon submittal

This acute care facility operates a dedicated MedSurg and Infectious Disease unit with 18 private rooms, emphasizing patient safety and infection control. The unit maintains 24/7 charge nurse coverage and offers comprehensive support services including remote telemetry monitoring and respiratory therapy.
