Description
Requirements:
- Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- RCIS certification preferred
- 1+ years of cath lab experience required
- Ability to respond to emergent/on-call cases (cath lab roles often require call coverage)
Duties:
- Provide nursing care and monitoring for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization procedures (diagnostic angiograms, PCI/stent placements, device implants)
- Monitor patient vital signs and hemodynamic status throughout procedures, alerting the team to changes
- Administer medications, sedation, and contrast media per physician orders and protocol
- Assist physicians during procedures, including circulating and monitoring roles
- Prepare and educate patients pre-procedure; provide recovery care and discharge instructions post-procedure
- Manage vascular access sites, including sheath removal and hemostasis per protocol
- Respond to emergent complications (arrhythmias, hemorrhage, vasovagal reactions) with appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with cardiologists, cath lab techs, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient response in the EMR
