Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• RNC-MNN (Maternal Newborn Nursing) certification preferred
• 1+ years of mother baby/postpartum experience required
• Experience with postpartum maternal care and newborn assessment

Duties:

• Provide couplet care to postpartum mothers and their newborns following vaginal or cesarean delivery
• Assess maternal recovery, including fundal checks, lochia, and incision/perineal care
• Perform newborn assessments, including vital signs, feeding, and screening tests
• Support and educate mothers on breastfeeding, infant care, and bonding
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders for mother and baby
• Monitor for postpartum complications (hemorrhage, infection, preeclampsia) and escalate care as needed
• Educate patients and families on newborn care, safety, and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with OB physicians, pediatricians, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Accurately document maternal and newborn assessments, interventions, and response in the EMR
• Support families through the transition to parenthood, including emotional and educational support
