Description
Requirements:
- Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred depending on facility
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required
- 1+ years of oncology experience required
- Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills (peripheral, PICC, port access)
Duties:
- Provide nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotherapy
- Assess patients pre-, during, and post-treatment, monitoring for adverse reactions and side effects
- Administer chemotherapy and other antineoplastic agents per physician orders and safety protocols
- Initiate and manage vascular access, including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and implanted ports
- Manage symptoms related to cancer and treatment side effects (nausea, pain, fatigue, neutropenia)
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, and self-care strategies
- Provide emotional support to patients and families navigating cancer diagnosis and treatment
- Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
- Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient response in the EMR
- Adhere to safe handling protocols for hazardous drugs per OSHA/USP <800> guidelines
