Description
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification required
- BLS certification required
- 1+ years of CVOR/cardiac surgical tech experience required
- Strong knowledge of cardiac/thoracic surgical procedures, instrumentation, and cardiopulmonary bypass
Duties:
- Provide scrub support during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures (CABG, valve repairs/replacements, aortic repairs, etc.)
- Prepare and maintain sterile field, specialized cardiac instruments, and equipment for CVOR cases
- Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons, anticipating procedural needs during complex cardiac cases
- Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts before, during, and after procedures
- Coordinate with perfusion team and surgical staff regarding cardiopulmonary bypass setup
- Handle and prepare specimens for pathology per facility protocol
- Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, circulating RN, and anesthesia to ensure smooth case flow
- Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning between cases
- Maintain and organize specialized cardiac surgical instruments and equipment
