Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN required; MPH or MSN preferred for some facilities
• BLS certification required
• CIC (Certification in Infection Control) required or eligible within a defined timeframe
• 1+ years of infection prevention/control experience required (acute care clinical background preferred)
• Familiarity with CDC, CMS, and Joint Commission infection control guidelines

Duties:

• Develop, implement, and monitor infection prevention and control policies across the facility
• Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and analyze trends
• Investigate outbreaks and clusters of infection, implementing corrective action plans
• Educate staff, patients, and families on infection prevention best practices and protocols
• Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and sterilization/disinfection standards
• Collaborate with physicians, employee health, and interdisciplinary team on infection control initiatives
• Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, state health department, and Joint Commission regulations
• Prepare and present infection control data and reports to leadership and committees
• Participate in emergency preparedness planning related to infectious disease outbreaks
• Conduct rounds and audits across departments to identify and address infection control risks
