Description
Requirements:
- Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
- BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
- BLS certification required
- Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification (ONS) required for oncology infusion settings
- 1+ years of infusion nursing experience required
- Strong IV access and vascular assessment skills (peripheral, PICC, port access)
Duties:
- Administer IV medications, chemotherapy, biologics, and fluid therapies per physician orders
- Assess patients pre-, during, and post-infusion, monitoring for adverse reactions
- Initiate and manage vascular access, including peripheral IVs, PICC lines, and implanted ports
- Educate patients and families on infusion therapy, side effects, and home care instructions
- Respond promptly to infusion reactions or complications with appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team on treatment plans
- Accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient response in the EMR
- Maintain infusion equipment and supplies, ensuring proper function and infection control
- Monitor lab values and treatment tolerance, adjusting care per protocol
