Requirements:

• Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable)
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• CPAN (Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse) preferred
• 1+ years of PACU/critical care experience required
• Experience with airway management and post-anesthesia recovery protocols

Duties:

• Provide immediate post-operative and post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures
• Assess and monitor patients for airway patency, hemodynamic stability, and anesthesia recovery
• Manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms per physician orders
• Recognize and respond to post-anesthesia complications (respiratory depression, hemorrhage, hypotension) with appropriate interventions
• Monitor and manage airway and ventilatory support as needed during emergence from anesthesia
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care, pain management, and discharge instructions
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR
• Determine readiness for transfer to inpatient unit or discharge per facility criteria
• Ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed during recovery
