Travel RN Opportunity – Emergency Department, Asheville, NC

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)
  • Location: Asheville, North Carolina
  • Employment Type: Travel Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

  • Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Only children’s hospital in the region with pediatric emergency services

Unit Information – Emergency Department

  • Unit Beds: 101
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1 (medical patients), up to 7:1 for behavioral holds
  • Staffing: Techs available; support includes cardiac monitoring, triage, and unit clerks (day and night shifts)
  • Equipment: Baxter pumps, GE monitors
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; no block scheduling; schedule must meet department needs
  • Floating Policy: No floating outside ED; must float within all ED sections
  • Patient Experience: Emphasis on AIDET communication, respectful behavior, and keeping patients informed throughout their visit
  • Dress Code: Navy scrubs required

Required Certifications (Must be current before start date)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – within 90 days of hire

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a Level II trauma center or comprehensive stroke center
  • At least 1 year experience in an Emergency Room setting
  • Experience in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits annually)
  • Previous experience with HCA Healthcare preferred
  • Strong teamwork skills with ability to coach and provide real-time feedback
  • Flexibility to work across all areas of the ED
