Labor & Delivery RN Job Details
- Location: Manchester, CT 06040 (Connecticut nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Family Birthing Center
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse Contract
- Start Date: November 24, 2025
- End Date: February 23, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), block scheduling
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1860-$2000
- Patient Population: Neonates and Adults
- Scrubs: Provided
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Connecticut RN license preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, EFM-C
- Experience with Meditech charting preferred
- COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Ability to provide clinical support for neonates and adults
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care for laboring mothers and newborns in a Family Birthing Center
- Perform antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum assessments and interventions
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and emergency obstetric procedures
- Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate patterns using EFM and IUPC
- Administer medications including antihypertensives, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, and more
- Initiate and maintain IVs, central lines, and infusion pumps
- Conduct newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
- Educate and support parents on newborn care, car seat safety, and discharge planning
- Document patient care using Omnicell, MediTech, and GE Centricity systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and more
