Job Opportunity: RN Surgery (OR Nurse)

Location: Passaic, New Jersey
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Call is required with no exceptions

Required Experience & Skills

• Open-heart surgery experience required
• Minimum of one year previous perioperative experience or on-the-job training
• Pre/Post-operative experience
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Licenses & Certifications Required

• Current and valid New Jersey RN license
• BLS (AHA) certification (must be current upon hire and maintained)
• ACLS (AHA) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained)
• PALS (AHA) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained)

Job Summary

• Accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services
• Responsible for direct and indirect patient care in the peri-operative setting for all age groups (neonates to older adults)
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists
• Direct and guide OR technicians and other personnel
• Maintain professional nursing standards and ensure efficient patient flow and unit organization
• Adhere to hospital policies, regulations, and standards
• Participate in performance improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services
• Serve as a resource for other personnel
• Must be able to take call

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications
• Nursys license verification
• Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%)
• Prime Basic Rhythm Interpretation Screening (minimum 80%)
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster or declination completed
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, Influenza (seasonal)
• TB test within one year of start date
• Annual respirator fit test
• Annual physical/health statement confirming clearance to work
• National criminal background check within one year of start date
• Drug screening (minimum 10-panel including THC) within 60 days of start
• Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80%)
• Prime Skills Checklist
• Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80%)
• Employment eligibility verification (Form I-9 or agency attestation)
• Driver’s license, State ID, or Passport
• Prime Agency Attestation and other required professional documentation

Additional Notes

• CNOR certification is preferred but not mandatory
• Must be able to work collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure quality patient care
• This role requires strict adherence to all hospital policies and participation in ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives
