PCU RN Job Details – Frankfort, KY
- Location: Frankfort, Kentucky 40601
- Facility: Magnet-designated hospital
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – 46 beds
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Job
- Start Date: December 1, 2025
- End Date: March 2, 2026
- Duration: 13-week contract
- Shifts: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts/week
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Staffing: Clinical Nurse Coordinators, Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks
- Patient Ratios: 4:1 or 5:1
- Charting: Meditech Expanse
- Equipment: GE Apex Pro Telemetry, Hoyer lift, Baxter IV pumps, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals, Glucometer
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Kentucky RN license or compact state RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience (Progressive Care or ICU preferred)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required
- Current NIH Stroke certification (annual renewal required)
- Proficient in telemetry and EKG interpretation
- Experience with post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention care, cardiac and anti-arrhythmic IV infusions, CPap/BiPap management
- Preferred: Experience with chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vacs, drains, post-dialysis assessment, central lines, blood transfusions
- Ability to float to related units (med/surg, telemetry overflow) as needed
- Dress code: Navy blue or gray scrubs (no royal blue)
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to Progressive Care Unit patients
- Monitor and interpret telemetry and EKG readings for cardiac patients
- Administer and manage cardiac and anti-arrhythmic IV infusions, CPap/BiPap therapy
- Perform therapeutic phlebotomy and port access procedures
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse electronic health records
- Participate in unit-based celebrations, staff recognition programs, and quality improvement initiatives
- Float to related units (post-surgical med/surg, telemetry overflow) as needed
